Below is the order of service for Good News Church on Sunday, February 21st, 2021:
Call To Worship (Kim):
Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Good News Church. Today we reflect on our journey to the cross as we focus on our sin and weakness and look to Jesus. As we press into this time of anticipation we recognize that though God is high above us, he reaches down to us and cares for us. When the church gathers, we bring our lives and stories. The scriptures remind us that no matter what our heartache is, we can bring it before the Father.
As it says in Psalm 126:5-6:
“Those who sow with tears, will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.”
I love that image and know many of you need that today. Stand and sing about the love the Father has for us!
Song: (How Deep the Father’s Love for Us)
Confession and Assurance (Kim):
It may seem odd that we sing about something like blood. But the wonderful irony of the gospel is that Jesus’ blood cleanses us from the stain of sin. Let’s sing of the freedom given through Christ’s sacrifice.
Songs: (Nothing but the Blood of Jesus) and (Waymaker)
Offertory (Kim):
God provides for our every need… He has done that by giving to us what the world could never give, and that is Jesus Christ himself. Whether you have much or little, remember that if you are Christian here today, then you have been given life! If you are new with us, feel no pressure to give. As you can see from the screens, there are many ways to give. As the ushers come forward, let’s pray.
God, thank you that you have given us all we need in Christ. Allow us to give knowing you provide for us. Take these offerings today to advance your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Song: (Shadow of the Glorious Cross)
Message: Exodus 7: A Hardened Heart
Benediction: From 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17: Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
